The air navigation company Skyguide said it fixed the issue soon after it “experienced a technical malfunction in the early several hours of this early morning, which is why Swiss airspace closed to targeted traffic for basic safety factors.”

The skies are “now open once more and air targeted traffic above Switzerland and operations at the countrywide airports of Geneva and Zurich are resuming,” it said in an update.

The firm did not supply information about the malfunction, which Geneva Airport explained as a laptop failure. “We are performing anything in our electric power to take care of the flights effectively and to continue to keep delays to a minimum amount,” the Skyguide assertion added.

The closure followed disruptions at airports all over Europe in latest months, like strikes in France and Italy, and workers shortages simply because of the coronavirus pandemic that have upended vacation in Britain.
